How long am I contagious?

Hi all

I was told by my doctor who successfully cut and
drained a boil in my finger that I was infected
with mrsa. The wound is healing very nicely and
it's been a week today since and I've been on
antibiotics since before I was cut. My question
however is that I have been staying clear of my
boyfriend who had just had surgery and I'm so
scared ill pass this on to him but I miss him so
much and just want a clear answer on when I can
see him again. If the swelling is gone and I'm on
antibiotics is there a really big risk of me
giving this to him if I practice good hand hygiene
and keep the finger wrapped properly? I can't
stand this anymore. Any help would be so greatly
appreciated.

Thank you so much,
John

Probably best to avoid contact until the site
that was lanced and drained is completely closed
(skin healed together). Also, your body or parts
of, including nasal hairs may be colonized by
resistant staph bacteria. You may want to to
consider crushed garlic baths for decolonization
and possible eradication. Google search Bob
Anderson + garlic baths.
