If you have been treated twice with bactrim in the last month and the boils keep coming back does that mean it is resistant to bactrim??

You need to be cultured. That way, they can tell whether or not your particular strain has become resistant to bactrim.

I would suspect that it is resistant but a culture MUST be done to find out and to find the right antibiotic.

thanks for the replies. Im pushing for that so far he has gotten small ones the dr popped it open and put betadine or something like that on it so I guess i just have to wait until he gets one thats big enough to be cultured. I was wondering tho cant they just do a nose swab on him? isnt it possible that a swab could tell us if he has it or not?
