My husband had a motorcycle wreck on mar 21 2008 and had his left leg completely shattered. After the initial operation of steel plates and screws my husband contracted mrsa in his hardware. The hardware was removed and the area was cleaned out. Weeks and weeks of Vanc IV went by. Blood tests were taken and all signs of MRSA were gone. A total knee replacement had to be performed 2 months later....MRSA once again returned. To make a long...very long story short, my husband is in the hospital once again (17th hospitalization) fighting MRSA. My husband is only 30 years old. Doctors have went into his leg numerous times due to scar tissue locking his knee down, replacing hardware and replacing his knee 4 times. My husband is at his breaking point. He no longer can work his job, play football with his son, mow the yard....nothing that requires him to be on his feet too long. He begged the doctor to amputate his leg, but the doctors refuse to do so. He has never had the antibiotic spacer... read more

Do anyone have trouble with painful scars? I have a few MRSA scars but one on my back causes me pain from time to time. Sometimes it itches, and other times it's a stabbing pain.

I occasionally get terrible night sweats...anyone else get them before a MRSA outbreak?

hi,

ive had mrsa for almost 3 years straight and im scared.i thought it die from it a few times and ended up in the emergency room a couple of times but no one admitted me because my signs were stable (blood pressure, no high fever and so on) and im 28 so they always sent me back home with antibiotic prescriptions. the antibiotics didnt help. they never got rid of the boils or wounds. the only antibiotic that i didnt try yet is vancomycin but thats an iv one and i am scared of ivs and that might not even help and i have other health problems that could be worsened if im on that

im very sick every day, chills, low fever sometimes, shaking, very tired all the time, too much pain that i have to be on pain medications, and many other symptoms besides the rashes, acid type burns on skin, boils, scabs that dont heal. i cant work because of it, its even difficult to get by or even walk across a room some days, or leave the house much

so ive become disabled because of this. i look ter... read more

My mother was hospitalized for 5 days and had surgery for MRSA on her
knee, we live in the same house. I share similar symptoms as my mother,
for months my left knee has ached, mainly when I lay down. My mother
said her knee ached in the same manner, specifically when she laid down
at night. I know MRSA takes 4-10 days to show up, so should I get
examined for MRSA?

Just recently diagnosed as a mrsa carrier in the nose and have been taking allicin for 6 weeks.I am healthy, and a firm believer in not only holistic remedies but also chinese remedies. I have never been hospitalized with this condition and didnt even know I was a carrier. I think I may have contracted it from the hospital after surgery several years ago. My dentist has noticed that my silver fillings are leaky and he wants to clean and refill one of my molars. He is not informed of my condition and I am not sure if I will put myself at risk of creating a more serious infection if I correct the problem so soon after being diagnosed as a mrsa carrier. My thoughts are to wait a few months so I am able to give myself several months of the allicin treatment...?? Any suggestions out there as to what is helpful for the mouth/teeth to take now and even during the procedure to make my system stronger??

Bites or Mrsa?

I was diagnosed with MRSA several months ago when I had a boil come up. I have had a few more occurances since but nothing for a few months. Now suddenly, I am breaking out in small bite like clusters. My neck, my wrist, my arm, on two different fingers and a few single marks scattered across my chest and ribs. It almost looks like it could be perhaps flea bites or bedbugs. I do have a couple larger ones like mosquito bites. I've checked the dog for fleas and the bed for bedbugs, but I found nothing. Could this be Mrsa? It itches like fire. I've been using a hydrocortisone cream to make them stop itching. They don't come to a head or blister up or break open or hurt, like my past flare ups. The first bout is SLOWLY getting better, but I'm getting a new one almost every night or every other. My Mrsa has never itched, and these drive me nuts like a poison ivy or a bug bite or perhaps a spider biting me overnight? Does Mrsa show up in this formation and itch like this?

Four days ago my girlfriend stated that she was bit by a spider over night while
she was sleeping. Last night i took her to the doctors because the pimple like
lesion was not getting better. The doctors differentil diagnosis was mrsa at the
top of the list. Bactr was perscribed after culture was taken. My girlfriend had
allergic reaction to bactrim that made her female area swell as well as making
her feel ill. Benadryl was given and she feels better but i dont because bactrim
can no longer be used. Im hoping its not mrsa because its scary and at the same
time i am very scared for her. Inlightening words would be appreciated.

Moisiturizing Body / Benzalkonium Chloride

thought i'd just start new thread, i've been doing some research on moisturizers that can kill mrsa, i'm not going to mention any products because i'm not advertising, but through research i've found that some people are saying Benzalkonium Chloride in lotion kills mrsa, has anyone found this to be true? i tried looking for antibaterial lotions and couldn't find any other than a hand lotion from a local bath type store. Anyways, when i searched on web for lotions with Benzalkonium Chloride i'm seeing sports lotions and even a baby lotion come up with that ingrediant in it. Have also been looking at coconut oil as a body lotion, just added barrier protection - also does putting lotion on top of hibiclens wash ruin the hibiclens 6 hour protection? any thoughts would be appreciated.

MRSA with septick shock

Good Morning!! My mother was diagnosed with MRSA last week & admitted to the ICU. Per the Dr's, she had the infection for a long period of time and left it untreated. When she arrived in the ER, she was already in septic shock. She had a spinal abscess that has paralyzed her from the neck down. She also has multi organ failure, pneumonia & DIC. We where also advised that there is another abscess in her throat area that they cannot get to surgically. As of Friday the DR's gave her a 5% chance to survive. I was wondering if anybody knows anybody that has survived this? She is on BP meds to keep her blood pressure up (they cannot get it stable) also on a ventilator as she is not able to breath on her own. I am worried that due to non treatment, she will not make it out of the hospital. Any hope or stories would be very helpful. thank you & god bless.

I first posted on Jan. 15th of this year. You may see the full posting from that period here:

I am writing now because I have finally found what works for me -- plain old Milk of Magnesia!! topically applied.

First off, most everyone else seems to experience boils, which I do not. I have an eczema based form that was deep in my skin. It also took me a long time to stop picking at the lesions because it was the only way I got relief from the pain. You can see the full list of treatments I tried in the above link. I have finally hope again, even though it came from another forum. I could find no one who had it in eczema form, but this guy thought he had jock itch for 7 years. He tried OTC and alternatives but only resolved his problem with showering, dabbing M... read more

Weird things coming out (please help)

I think my mother may have MRCA, I am very sure of it. They are all over her skin, and on her back, just everywhere. She went to the doctors tonight, they did some tests, and they will contact her in a couple of weeks about the results.
Now, the weird thing is, she picks at them, and they pop, and supposedly weird things come out of them. She describes them as almost 'worm like', and sometimes these little black tiny balls come out of them as well. And they bruise up all around them. I've seen this myself. But the doctor said that he is sure this isn't bug related.

So my question was, if anyone with MRCA could tell me, if they have had any weird things like this happen with them while having MRCA? Any weird things coming out of them? I need as much information as I can get. So please, if you could help, and might know something about this, please let me know. Thank you!

On Feb 21 I had a laparotomy (hip to hip incision) because of a grapefruit sized benign tumor on my ovary. I felt great about a week after the surgery and was recovering well.

In the beginning of March I went to the gyn surgeon with extreme pain and redness/heat oon the incision. He said it was cellulitis and prescribed Cipro. The heating pad finally made it drain huge amounts of yellow pus and the pain mostly went away. He sent me to a wound care center to clean the abcess.

The wound care Dr. prescribed Augmentin as well as daily cleaning and packing of the wound. They said the culture cme back staph aureus with gram positive cocci and rods, also diptheroids. Last week they changed my antibiotic to trimethoprim and I am done with that and still not better.

I asked the Dr. if the culture report said MRSA and he said no but the list of sensitive drugs were all ones used to treat MRSA, including the trimethoprim which didnt work.

My question is this: Does the culture rep... read more
