I have been also been tested so many times, and almost the 5 years I
have been fighting this ungodly infection also under the name of the
super bug MRSA. Non of the antibiotics from ER or Disease Specialist
Dr's. has worked. These sores have peppered my legs and thighs, any
but and I mean I look like I have chicken poxes. They multiply like
rabbit's and have moved to my upper arms and back, where they began
one week after I had major spinal decomposition with fusion on L3, L4,
L5 and S1 surgery. My body is immune to all the special antibiotics
it takes to fight this. No one wants to be around you, I keep covered
up, but I have been in many kinds of different pain, and of course no
body wants to really admit (outwardly) on how this is acquired. I've
go all my medical records etc. and of course I'm told to come back if
they don't start clearing up, and given and also told veritably of the
the dangers. But still no one has given me by IV's or admitted me ... read more

Hi all,

I'm new to the MRSA forum boards, but I'm looking to get information
regarding drug resistant bacteria. My research is still in the
gathering phase, and as such I'm looking for everything from personal
stories to recent articles and blog posts. Here are a few examples I
came across today:

Give the articles a read if you have a moment, they're quite
interesting and indicative of the content I''m in search of. Any
feedback, or links to articles would be greatly appreciated. Many
thanks for your time and input.

All the best,

Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with MRSA about 2 years ago when I got a
boil in my armpit. My boyfriend had it first and gave it to me (we
arent' together anymore). Since then I've had about 4 or 5 breakouts
of boils around my nose. Finally, after doing researching myself (my
doctor was useless) I started the de-colonization process about 5 days
ago after getting a positive nasal swab. I understand there is no way
to tell for sure, but can some of you please tell me how often you
get active infections, like how many per year? What can I expect
after de-colonizing with antibacterial wash and prescription strength
nose ointment? Has anyone had it totally stop and been free of active
infection for several years? Is there any hope that I will be able to
live without this horrible situation? I feel like a lepper, and I'm
single. Can I ever have sex again? Will anyone ever want to have an
intimate relationship with me when I tell them what I have? I'm v... read more

I would appreciate some advice and answers if anyone has them. My son
who jut graduated from Mortuary school got a community based bout of
MRSA. He had a sore bump and they cut it open drained it and packed
it. This was done away from home and with unfamiliar doctors so I have
no clue what to expect next. Will he infect the rest of us if this is
healed up and he had no other sores? Someone told him not to swim that
will make him break out again and infect the water. Figure the
chlorine would take care of that. Should he take a blood test to see
if it is in his blood? Any help and things we should be careful about
please!! Thaks all!!

My 17 year old contracted MRSA for the 2nd time in the past 17 months. The past 17 months, she has been sick every 2-3 weeks. She has been taking allergy shots to try to help but now I am beginning to think that this is being caused by the MRSA. She also developed low blood sugar. She is constantly tired. Has anyone else had similar problems?

HA-MRSA sinus

Had sinus surgery July 2011. Many followups with ENT due to felling
worse than before surgery. Diagnosed with MRSA in sinus in Nov 2011.
Prescribed Bactrim for 6 weeks. Have also developed cough and
difficulty breathing. Since I quit smoking at the same time I had
surgery, docs have speculated that it is Bronchitis or copd due to
lungs trying to heal after many years of smoking. I am afraid that the
mrsa has gotten into my lungs. Had another sinus culture in Feb 2012
which came back positive for mrsa. Different ENT and he put me on
Bactrim again for 3 weeks. Not any better so he now plans on putting
me on a nebulized antibiotic. It is now March 2012 (8 months later)
and I am trying to hang on. Hard to sleep due to coughing and
wheezing. I do not know why but have not run a fever during this whole
ordeal. Anyone had any experience with nebulized antibiotics? Will
this ever end? Any experiences or advice appreciated.

Doctor injecting himself with MRSA

I was watching this video and was stunned.
In short this guy injected himself with MRSA, underwent elective surgery and then
performed surgeries on other people three weeks later without taking any anti-biotics.

1. Could he really have done this?
2. If so was he putting other patients at risk?

How and Why Garlic Works

Research has shown that there are 33 isolated compounds, at least these 33 are the Most Active substances, including the sulfur containing compounds of ALLICIN, ALIIN, CYCROALLIIN, AND DIALLYLDISULPHIDES. Here is a list and breakdown of active factors that are present in garlic.
ALLICIN, - this substance is largely responsible for garlics antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, and the odorous factor in garlic.

ALLIIN - the sulfur containing amino acid in garlic from which allicin is made by the action of the enzyme alliinase. This content is ascribed the antibiotic effect of garlic.

DIALLYLDISULPHIDE-OXIDE - the chemical compound into which allicin is changed in the system. This factor is attributed the cholesterol and lipid-lowering effect of garlic.

Gurwitch Rays - the mitogenitic radiation factor that stimulated cell growth and has a rejuvenating stimulating effect on all body functions.

Anti-hemolytic factor - responsible for it's beneficial effect in the treat... read more

The Garlic and Vitamin Myth

I have never ever heard of anyone why beat MRSA by taking garlic supplements and vitamins this is very misleading information and some people out there may draw the wrong conclusion. There is nothing wrong with taking these supplements but to claim that they can defeat this dangerous bacteria is simple not true , otherwise everybody wolud just do the same thing and no more MRSA. Yes it is very important to build up your immun system end these supplements can help but there are no match against the superbug , and only a very few antibiotics able to kill it. If these supplements were effective against MRSA it would not have taken eight monts and three surgery to get it under control.

How I beat MRSA

Do not take my advice I'm not a Dr but this is how I did it. After
getting MRSA and taking the meds the MRSA was still spreading down my
arm. I read about blue light in the UV spectrum I made my own plan.
I went to a tanning salon that had high pressure beds with 360 tanning
(the most powerful one they had)this has the plates that go down the
entire bed. Tanned at full strength for a month... it's gone. I
noticed at first a new pimple would form on my arm then it just dried
up and went away. I get the pimples no more. This type of high
pressure tanning reaches far deep into the skin and we already know
that surface sun or UV kills MRSA. If you're really white, start slow
you don't want to burn or you could face cancer 50 yrs later lol.

Can Mersa be contracted from a sick dog ?

My 18 month old was diagnosed with Mersa yesterday in her PhD’s office. The Dr. squeezed the boil and was able to somewhat relieve her temporally from the pain it's causing her. It's on her lower right part of her bottom. I wanted to know how she contracted this dreadful bacteria, and after reading as much as I can about it, and talking to the Dr. I have come to realize that she most likely got it through cross contamination at her Daycare. However, I'm not aware of any other outbreaks from her center. I am however very curious if it can be contracted from an old dog that is not clean and has a skin allergy. He scratches all the time. And his hair is falling out by the hand full. . He also has lumps on his torso from I'm sure some kind of internal tumor's. The owner's are preparing to have the poor old dog put to sleep, and out of his misery. But my child had been playing in the same area where the dog lives. Is it possible she got this from the dog? Or most likely from her daycare?

I got my first MRSA sores at the end of June 2010. My sores are healing well, but I am still overwhelmingly fatigued. I sleep 10 hrs per day and lack energy. Many of my friends/family are wondering why my energy is not coming back.
When should I expect to have enough energy to go back to work? I've been off for 5 weeks and would like to go to work in Sept.
PS. I'm going to take my first garlic bath tonight

MRSA as diaper rash

In our family MRSA has so far only manifested itself as a diaper rash, with most boils occurring where the diapers' elastic causes irritation. We have switched back and forth between cloth diapers and various brands of disposables as I feel like the risk of contamination from having cloth diapers to launder is too great. That said, I wonder if the chemicals in the disposable diapers are an irritant and perhaps I'd be better off using cloth. Anybody have experience with MRSA and diapers?

He gets a diaper change at least every two hours except at night, so it is not a hygiene issue. I would change him more at night, but then he'd be losing sleep which would also be detrimental.

My plan this time around, to test and see if one diaper is better than another, is to stick to one kind and then change brands if he has another infection. He has already been treated with antibiotics and it has cleared up for now. We have found with both children that Huggies seems to cause rashes... read more

My sons and my MRSA finally cleared up after finishing antibiotic then
I started to get an abscess on my inner butt check. AHHHH. I have had
one in the same exact spot two times before this one in the summer of
2011 about 2 weeks apart. Was told the first time it was an infected
hair. Second time they thought maybe it was a fistula because when
they squirted liquid in the hole, it came out of my butt (sorry to be
so blunt). I was supposed to go get a colonoscopy to see if it was a
fistula for sure but never followed through with it because it healed
up and seemed to go away but now like 7 months later it's back!

I went to the hospital to have it drained this past Friday thinking it
was MRSA. They cultured it and it came back NEGATIVE for MRSA but it
was POSITIVE for a bacteria called KLEBIELLA PNEUMONIAE.

I'm so scared and confused. This is another bacteria that I have never
heard of before!!

Anyone familiar with it? I'm going in to see a ... read more

I was recently diagnosed with MRSA. I am a Radiation Therapist and deal with
cancer patients daily so my ID doc decided to attempt decolonization for me and
my family. I was given a nasal swab to start and received the news the next day
from my hemotogist/oncologist and was in to see the ID doc in 2 days. I was
referred for possible hidradenitis suppurativa but that was secondary to my
MRSA infection. We were on the protocol for 10 days with Zyvox( after failure on
Keflex and Augmentun) for myself for 10 days to coincided with it. I had 7 boils
under my left armpit and 2 on my right. 5 days after stopping the meds and nasal
ointment, I have a new boil emerging under my left armpit. We are still doing the
hibiclens showers. I have leukocytosis and thrombocytosis of unknown origin for
about 7 years and low immunoglobulin G so I am considered
immunocompromised. I am going back to the ID doctor in 3 days so we will see
what happens next. He told me that the hope ... read more
