I was diagnosed with MRSA yesterday and started antibiotics. I'm also 20 weeks pregnant. My OB's office assures me I'll be fine after treatment, but wasn't very informative. I'm looking for other people's stories and useful resources from people who've been where I am. Any help would be appreciated.

I had MRSA 6 years ago. I am having surgery and wonder if there is a protocol that the doctors (and O.R.) must follow to prevent another infection?

It has been quite some time since I have posted here in this
forum. You all helped me through some very bad times. I had
contracted MRSA back in 2006 when I went to see my Mother who had
Surgery a few months before and she was being cared for by my
sister. The morning after I arrived home my Mother and I were
having Coffee and a roll and she suffered an Aortic
Dissection(Tear throught her Aorta). She bled out and I performed
CPR, she died in my arms. She had MRSA from her Surgery and I soon
became ill with MRSA.I spent nearly 4 years on Antibiotics, pretty
much Nonstop give ot take a week here and there. I was never
tested properly until years had gone by. By this time I was so ill
and On IV Cubicin and Zyvox pills. Soon after I was told they had
stopped working and to go home and get my affairs in order.I
already felt like I was dead from treatment.I had already been
posting here in this forum about 6 months prior to being told that
and had been taking Al... read more

MRSA NO FUN!

Hi,

My name is Lisa and I am 32 years of age. It all started three
weeks ago from a spider bite. I was immediately put on antibiotics
but I kept getting more sores and it became resistant. I saw the
Dermatologist yesterday she told me it's MRSA. She has me on a
stronger antibiotic, I have to take bleach baths, wash everything
all the time, towels, clothing, my hands constantly, and the
counter-tops. I currently live with my parents and because it's on
my legs and neck I have too be separated on the other side of the
house.
Right now I have a call in to my doctor because I'm sick and can't
keep the antibiotic down. I also don't have a fever.

Importance of diet for healing

Hello everyone, I just had to post my success story, because no matter how dark
it may seem, your body has a natural ability to heal. And by setting up the proper
conditions, your body will be like a fountain of energy, constantly surging
outward from the core of your digestion out through your skin.

According to the Ayurveda, your digestion is like a fire inside you that burns up
your food into energy your body can use. This digestive fire is also the fire that
purifies infection, aka your immune system.

Therefore healthy digestion = healthy immune function.

What happens in your innards when you eat a sugary snack, drink a sugary
beverage or eat refined wheat products is this; your intestinal micro flora begin to
replicate at an increased rate which leads to an overpopulation of undesirable
microbes in your gut. These microbes create toxic waste products through their
metabolism which are absorbed into your body through the lining of your
intestines. Bu... read more

I'm so thankful to find this discussion group. I will continue to
read previous posts, but I wanted to ask my question because I don't
know what to do.

I had a cold about 6 weeks ago. Soon after that I developed a severe
pain in my right rib. Every move I made was painful. I thought it
much be inflammation of the joints/tissue between the ribs. That is
fairly common.

About two weeks later, still with rib pain, I developed three lesions
under my right arm..... one after the other. They had a fast life
cycle and as a new one came out the other would be healing.

I just happened to be at the doctor for a yearly checkup and I asked
him to look at the lesion and tell me if I needed to do anything for
it. He cultured it and it came back positive for MRSA. But by the
time the culture came back, the final lesion had healed and no longer
looked like anything at all.

The doctor's office called me somewhat in a panic. They told me all
the things ... read more

How do I get rid of MRSA?

Hi. I am a 20 year old Male. I have had MRSA 6 times since 2009 (foot, 3 times on my leg, on my face, and on my lower back. Now i have it 3 more place at the same time (left shin, right forearm, and right thigh). I believe the infection has spread to the bone in my leg bcz my bones in my leg are very sore and I can barely walk right now. I have tried draining them like I have with the others in the past but they seem to get worse when I do so. Everytime i thoroughly drain them, they fill right back up again with even more than before. This time its actually starting to scare me. Once I get rid of these infections, how do i stop or at least lessen the frequency it comes back in the future?? Please help because I am sick and tired of the pain and social ostracism this infection causes.

After having MRSA for 3 years now because I also have eczema it still on
occasion occurs, my remedies are:

1.) Chamomile buds thrown in a warm bath and soaking in it, or creating a
compress with chamomile that has been steeped . It's just as effective as tea tree
oil but it not as rough and actually allows skin to heal and not scar.
2.) Calendula cream works especially on covered areas and should be applied
after chamomile. This works really well on little kids too.
3.) sundhine and swimming in the oceAn
4.) take out sugar from diet and take vitamins God bless!

Ear infection/Mastoiditis with MRSA

I am a 30 year old otherwise healthy female, mother of a 4-yr-old & 2-yr-old. In November I got hit out of the blue with a terrible ear infection, which was intensely painful. After a few weeks of multiple anitbiotics(both pills and drops) with no improvement, a culture was finally done on the discharge coming from my middle ear, and I was diagnosed as having the dreaded MRSA. Now, after having been on Zyvox 600mg BID for over a month, my ear pain is gone, and I've got some hearing back, but am totally zapped of energy. Also, I now have pain that comes and goes from my mastoid bone, as well as some lingering dizziness, which I'm not sure is because of my middle ear infection or because of the Zyvox. A recent CT scan showed that my mastoid is infected, so my ENT put a tube in my ear, and am on the Zyvox for another 2 weeks. If I'm not better clinically(he's not saying anything about a follow-up CT scan?!), then I'm probably going to have mastoid surgery. I've also seen an infec... read more

Breastfeeding with MRSA

I had a massive infection 2 years ago in my leg, they said might be a Staph infection and suggested it could be MRSA, but never did any testing because it was draining. I haven't had any in two years, then now I got a massive infection in my nose 2 months ago, which again, not draining so they just gave me antibiotics, and now have 2 cysts, one on my torso, and one on the side of my breast. The urgent care Dr. said it looked like MRSA and I should get it tested, but since it wasn't draining... Well, shocker, no testing done. She knew I was breast feeding a 4 month old cause she was in at the same time as me for a small infected hangnail on her finger... But after reading some things about MRSA and breastfeeding, I am worried I might have inadvertinely given her the condition and that it wasn't just a simple hangnail. Also worried that no one EVER told me to stop breast feeding, cause they never tested me. The ER Dr put me on Bactrim and didn't tell me I had to stop either, and other... read more

My experience with MRSA started in May of 2008, after a small medical procedure, I have been in and out of the hospital 8 times for extremely painful boil drainage, fevers, flu like symptoms and IV antibiotics. My flare ups seem to happen every 8 to 12 weeks.I have noticed that now every time I do get these they seem to be getting more aggressive, and by that I mean that when I get the boils they get bad really fast! Nothing is working for me, I have the body wash (Stanhexidine)prescribed from the doc, antibiotic nasal spray, creams and ointments, I am even putting a little bit of bleach in my bath water everytime I bathe. I have seen two ID docs and they both have told me that mine is coming from inside somewhere, they are thinking that it may be located in my gallbladder. I was just in hospital three weeks ago for a bad infection on my face (MRSA), they did an ultrasound on my gallbladder and it showed that I had sludge in it,and inflammation, my blood tests showed elevated liver en... read more

A Few Questions

So, I've had MRSA since I was fifteen. Got it from an external
fixator. I'm a carrier. Questions are as follows.

I'm pretty sure I got gonorrhea from someone. I've been told
I'm severely allergic to penicillin my entire life. However, I was
given a penicillin injection to clear it up at a mental facility. I
felt like my heart was about to explode. Could this have been
my MRSA fighting the penicillin? Or was this just my allergic
reaction?

Secondly; is it possible I could have created some sort of "super-
Gono" or something to that effect? I haven't been tested since
and am still worried.
