How do I get rid of MRSA?

Hi. I am a 20 year old Male. I have had MRSA 6 times since 2009 (foot, 3 times on my leg, on my face, and on my lower back. Now i have it 3 more place at the same time (left shin, right forearm, and right thigh). I believe the infection has spread to the bone in my leg bcz my bones in my leg are very sore and I can barely walk right now. I have tried draining them like I have with the others in the past but they seem to get worse when I do so. Everytime i thoroughly drain them, they fill right back up again with even more than before. This time its actually starting to scare me. Once I get rid of these infections, how do i stop or at least lessen the frequency it comes back in the future?? Please help because I am sick and tired of the pain and social ostracism this infection causes.

After having MRSA for 3 years now because I also have eczema it still on
occasion occurs, my remedies are:

1.) Chamomile buds thrown in a warm bath and soaking in it, or creating a
compress with chamomile that has been steeped . It's just as effective as tea tree
oil but it not as rough and actually allows skin to heal and not scar.
2.) Calendula cream works especially on covered areas and should be applied
after chamomile. This works really well on little kids too.
3.) sundhine and swimming in the oceAn
4.) take out sugar from diet and take vitamins God bless!

I am a 30 year old otherwise healthy female, mother of a 4-yr-old & 2-yr-old. In November I got hit out of the blue with a terrible ear infection, which was intensely painful. After a few weeks of multiple anitbiotics(both pills and drops) with no improvement, a culture was finally done on the discharge coming from my middle ear, and I was diagnosed as having the dreaded MRSA. Now, after having been on Zyvox 600mg BID for over a month, my ear pain is gone, and I've got some hearing back, but am totally zapped of energy. Also, I now have pain that comes and goes from my mastoid bone, as well as some lingering dizziness, which I'm not sure is because of my middle ear infection or because of the Zyvox. A recent CT scan showed that my mastoid is infected, so my ENT put a tube in my ear, and am on the Zyvox for another 2 weeks. If I'm not better clinically(he's not saying anything about a follow-up CT scan?!), then I'm probably going to have mastoid surgery. I've also seen an infec... read more

Breastfeeding with MRSA

I had a massive infection 2 years ago in my leg, they said might be a Staph infection and suggested it could be MRSA, but never did any testing because it was draining. I haven't had any in two years, then now I got a massive infection in my nose 2 months ago, which again, not draining so they just gave me antibiotics, and now have 2 cysts, one on my torso, and one on the side of my breast. The urgent care Dr. said it looked like MRSA and I should get it tested, but since it wasn't draining... Well, shocker, no testing done. She knew I was breast feeding a 4 month old cause she was in at the same time as me for a small infected hangnail on her finger... But after reading some things about MRSA and breastfeeding, I am worried I might have inadvertinely given her the condition and that it wasn't just a simple hangnail. Also worried that no one EVER told me to stop breast feeding, cause they never tested me. The ER Dr put me on Bactrim and didn't tell me I had to stop either, and other... read more

My experience with MRSA started in May of 2008, after a small medical procedure, I have been in and out of the hospital 8 times for extremely painful boil drainage, fevers, flu like symptoms and IV antibiotics. My flare ups seem to happen every 8 to 12 weeks.I have noticed that now every time I do get these they seem to be getting more aggressive, and by that I mean that when I get the boils they get bad really fast! Nothing is working for me, I have the body wash (Stanhexidine)prescribed from the doc, antibiotic nasal spray, creams and ointments, I am even putting a little bit of bleach in my bath water everytime I bathe. I have seen two ID docs and they both have told me that mine is coming from inside somewhere, they are thinking that it may be located in my gallbladder. I was just in hospital three weeks ago for a bad infection on my face (MRSA), they did an ultrasound on my gallbladder and it showed that I had sludge in it,and inflammation, my blood tests showed elevated liver en... read more

A Few Questions

So, I've had MRSA since I was fifteen. Got it from an external
fixator. I'm a carrier. Questions are as follows.

I'm pretty sure I got gonorrhea from someone. I've been told
I'm severely allergic to penicillin my entire life. However, I was
given a penicillin injection to clear it up at a mental facility. I
felt like my heart was about to explode. Could this have been
my MRSA fighting the penicillin? Or was this just my allergic
reaction?

Secondly; is it possible I could have created some sort of "super-
Gono" or something to that effect? I haven't been tested since
and am still worried.

My son age 22 injured his leg in an accident in Oct 06. No skin or bones were broken but the entire lower leg was smashed and contracted a MRSA infection. He was hopitalized for a week, had two surgeries during that time, and was sent home with a picc line w/vancomycin for a month. The wound had to be unpacked and repacked every day. After that he was on Bactrum for another month.

About eight months later some boils showed up, he was again diagnosed with MRSA. He was placed on Septra 800-160 (2 tablets 3X per day). He took those for about 1-1/2 months, then had to stop because he was throwing up blood. The MRSA hasn't reappeared but he's had some other problems and I wonder if anyone else has seen any of this after a bad MRSA infection:

What happened is that after the last round of antibiotics, my son developed acid reflux disease. Then, his hands started to swell and hurt constantly, his family doctor has diagnosed him with gout. The weird thing of it is, he is awfully young ... read more

Confused and terrified.

Last wednesday I went into the ER for a
humongous absess under my arm. I went in
and they gave me bactrim and naproxin due
to me being alergic to all other pain
medications. On Friday I returned with the
same problem only about 200% bigger and
the Nurse practitioner decided to Lance it
and not biopsy it and only said "I'm
treating it as it is MRSA". That is a HUGE
thing to guess at! I'm terrified of it
actually being MRSA and the things to come
from that. She did not educate me on
anything just gave me a packet on absesses
and told me to come back for repacking.
Can anyone shed any light on this maybe to
ease my mind.

just got diagnosed with mrsa today. my girlfriend is staying in california and i was set to move there next year sometime. now that im diagnosed with this, i've come more to peace with prayer and finding this site, but im terrified of giving it to her. how contagious is mrsa?
i mean i know its very contagious, but the spot is below my knee, will any other interactions put her in a position of contracting this?
holding hands, hugging, kissing. hope this doesnt sound like im trying to find out if we can sleep together since she's a virgin and we're not trying to do anything til we're married but as far as still having a normal relationship, is it possible?

Hey all, thanks so much for all the information.

I'm traveling through Thailand at the moment and got a skin infection while in Koh
Phangan. I had no idea until afterwards how just scratching my mosquito bites and with
it being an "open cut" and going into the water runs a high risk of me getting SA.

I noticed it around December 23rd/24th and just before NYE did it start getting worst
and when I started to do all sorts of things to make it better, but nothing is working
still. I've been taking activated charcoal, oregano oil, colloidal silver, olive leaf, GSE, clay,
vitamin c and d, coconut oil, eating raw garlic, and ginger and pretty much a clean diet.

Anyways, I get that garlic water baths are the answer. But now, my SA has already
surfaced. I wish I could attach pictures in this forum.

Maybe this link will work:

Three weeks ago yesterday I went to my dermatologist for a mole check, she wanted to remove one from my inside ankle...three sutures...one week later, area looks red, is weeping a semi-pus like substance, and a pus pocket is forming in one of the folds that the sutures created...I go back, a different doctor sees me, their newest surgeon in the building. "No, you are not infected", this is a normal healing foot wound...but he gives me a sample of Actibax to keep putting on it. Another week later, I go in for suture removal, original doc says yes, that is infected, removes sutures, does a swab for a culture....starts me on Keflex 500mg bid...nurse calls me yesterday, THREE WEEKS AFTER original procedure...TWO weeks after I go in asking for help for an obviously troubled wound...and ONE week after I have been on the WRONG antibiotic (which did seem to help a bit.)

I am so worried now....just needed to vent, get opinions, and other stories I guess.

Doc did NOT use betadine befor... read more

Garlic and Allicin

Hello Bob and everyone,

We hope you all had a blessed Christmas. We are struggling because our year old baby girl has MRSA. She must have got it from the daycare center.
I wanted to ask Bob or anyone who knows about how to use garlic or allicin for MRSA. I would rather use the stable form of garlic though it is expensive. From what I read, it is more mild on the skin and stomach. Please let me know what you think. Thank you very much!
